Cable Insulation Water Blocking Tape
Product Description
Insulated waterproof tape for cables is a specially designed waterproof and moisture-proof material for cables and optical cables. It plays an important role in ensuring the safe operation and extending the service life of cables and optical cables. The following is a brief introduction to insulated waterproof tapes for cables:
The insulation waterproof tape for cables is usually composed of a strip-shaped substrate layer with tensile and temperature resistance properties, and a high rate water absorbing material layer uniformly attached to the substrate layer. The two layers can be combined through various methods such as bonding, coating, impregnation, etc. to form a whole. The substrate layer usually uses polymer materials such as polyester (PET) and polypropylene (PP), while the water absorbing material layer may include water absorbing resins such as polyacrylamide, polyacrylic acid ester, and polyacrylate.
When the cable or optical cable is damaged and causes moisture penetration, the water absorbing resin in the water stop will quickly absorb moisture and expand hundreds of times, forming a gel state to fill the cable core gap. This expansion effect effectively reduces the further infiltration of water and moisture into cables or optical cables, playing a good role in blocking water.
High water absorption rate: Water absorbing resin can absorb a large amount of water in a short period of time and quickly expand to fill the gaps between cable cores.
Good water blocking effect: By absorbing water and expanding to form a barrier, it effectively prevents further infiltration of moisture and dampness.
Excellent electrical performance: Some waterproof tapes also have semiconductive properties, which can optimize the electrical structure of cables, reduce partial discharge and electric field distortion.
Good mechanical performance: It has sufficient tensile strength and tear strength, and can withstand the mechanical stress of cables during installation and operation.
Thermal stability performance: able to maintain stable electrical and physical properties at high temperatures, meeting the requirements for cable use in high-temperature environments.
4、Application Fields
Insulated waterproof tapes for cables are widely used in the manufacturing of power cables, communication cables, and optical cables. In power cables, it is usually used between the insulation shielding layer and the metal sheath to provide waterproofing, moisture insulation, and electrical connection. In communication cables and optical cables, it is used to prevent moisture from infiltrating and causing signal attenuation or interruption.
5、Precautions
Choose the appropriate waterproof tape: Select the appropriate waterproof tape material according to the specific requirements of the cable or optical cable, ensuring that its electrical, waterproof, and mechanical properties meet the requirements.
Strict control of process: In the manufacturing process of cables or optical cables, it is necessary to strictly control the process parameters such as the winding tension and overlap rate of the waterproof layer to ensure the uniformity and continuity of the waterproof layer.
Quality inspection: Conduct strict electrical and waterproof performance tests on the produced cables or optical cables to ensure that the waterproof tape plays its due role in the cables or optical cables.
